German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has shown the fans what made him a bull in games in Europe in his elite days.

He made his debut in the Major League Soccer (MLS) for his club Chicago Fire against Montreal Impact.

The player was snubbed by Jose Mourinho while he was at Manchester United. He refused to exit the side as Mourinho expected so the coach banished him to the reserves team. While making his debut in America after he finally decided to leave, he scored a goal in the 17th minute from close range.

Schweinsteiger was impressive in the game, playing full 90 minutes. The game eventually ended 2-2 at Toyota Park but it showed a glimpse of what the former Bayern Munich star could do. Schweinsteiger was voted the Man of the Match as the fans were thoroughly glad. His through pass to Luis Solignac late in the game was amazing. The dismissal of Juninho in the 70th minute affected the team but they managed to see the game through.

“It was a great feeling. Perfect cross from David [Accam] and the header. It was a good feeling at first, but I’m a little bit sad and not so happy that we couldn’t win the game,” the star said after the game. (more…)

Galatasaray Boss Wants Podolski to Stay

Feb

Galatasaray manager Jan Olde Riekerink says that he wants to keep striker Lukas Podolski at the club. The German has been linked with a move away from the Turkish outfit with talk about Chinese Super League becoming his next destination.

China’s incredible spending spree in the January transfer window has left many top clubs bewildered at the prospect of retaining some of the best players. The incredible amount of transfer fees and wages being offered by the Chinese clubs have been simply astronomical for super clubs in Europe to handle. Despite huge pedigree, Galatasaray are not immune from the threat. (more…)

Sep

After making over 100 appearances for Germany and scoring over 40 goals for his national side, it has been officially confirmed that Lukas Podolski has decided to retire as he wants to spend more time with his family and at the age of 31, Podolski is not as energetic as he used to be a few years ago.

The amount of appearances that Lukas Podolski has made for Germany has been decreasing as there are other younger players that have been given the chance to step it up and prove their worth at the international stage.

Podolski is a regular starter for Galatasaray as he made 30 appearances for the Turkish club during the season 2015-16 and it seems like the German forward just wants to spend the rest of his playing career focusing on his club and not having many distractions as well as get more time with his family.

Lukas Podolski confirmed his retirement from Germany as he wrote on his twitter account: Thank you fans! 12 years, 129 matches. It was amazing! It was great! It was an honour to be part of the German national team. (more…)

Jul

Lukas Podoloski of Germany is probably looking to retire which was announced before the Euros.

Before the Euros 2016 started he stated that he was considering retiring from international football after the tournament which would be an easy decision if Germany won the tournament. Podoloski has definitely contributed much too several games in the international arena. Being a forward player of Galatasaray and 31 years of age, he has made about 129 appearances at senior level for the country as well as being part of the 2014 squad that brought the World Cup back to Germany.

He stayed back from active games for some time. For instance the last match that he played for Die Nationalmannschaft resulted in a win of 4-0 score over Gilbraltar. It was, however, in November 2014. He also scored several goals for Australia last year. For Euro 2016 he made about a single appearance where he was a substitute in the game that resulted in a win over Slovakia with a score of 3-0. Podoloski has been taking a slacked form in the games more and more. Hence, even though Mario Gomez was injured, he was not required to start the semifinal game against France.

Jurgen Klopp comments on Liverpool need

Apr
21

Jurgen Klopp says that Liverpool need to have more self-belief if they are to start winning matches against the top teams.

The manager was speaking after the club’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham at Anfield. Even though the result does not hugely improve Liverpool’s chances of qualifying for the Champions League, it is a welcome result against a team that is challenging for the title. It once again puts Liverpool in the headlines, as they have affected the title race in a significant manner. Philippe Coutinho came up with the opening goal seven minutes after half-time break.
Opposition striker Harry Kane, who has been one of the best forwards in the division, came up with the equaliser a few minutes later. Rather worryingly, Liverpool took off striker Daniel Sturridge when he clearly represented one of the best chances of the home team coming up with a winner. Klopp later revealed that the decision was purely tactical and not based on any injuries. Speculation mounted during the match that Sturridge had suffered a recurrence of the numerous problems he has been facing in the last two years. Both teams failed to find a winner in the second half and this was largely down to the absence of self-belief according to the German manager.

Podolski had too much competition in Arsenal and had to be offloaded

Oct

Joel Campbell, Olivier Giroud, Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott, MesutOzil and Danny Welbeck are the main attacking figures of Arsenal and it was just too much competition for Lukas Podolski who was already going through some difficult times at the Emirates Stadium as his career was experiencing a steady decline and the only option that was left was for him to make a move away from Arsenal.

Podolski’s first season as a player of Arsenal saw him making 33 appearances for the Premier League club and he managed to score 11 goals in his debut season but things began to fall apart for the German attacker as he began to lose his place in the starting XI of Arsene Wenger and it reached a point where Podolski was lucky if he got some playing time on the pitch.

It was only a matter of time until Podolski was offloaded from Arsenal and it occurred on July 4th of the ongoing year as the German player joined Galatasaray for a transfer fee of €1.8 million as he signed a 3 year long deal.

Arsene Wenger believes that this switch of clubs is the best thing that he could have done as this will benefit his career which was fading away. The French manager of Arsenal revealed a few details concerning Podolski as he told the media: “I felt that the opportunities for him to play with the stature a player has, he needed to go somewhere and play. Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski made 7 appearances in this season which reached it’s end a few weeks ago and in all of the matches where he played in, the German forward made a total of 0 goals.

One of the reasons of why Podolski’s numbers with Arsenal was so low in this season is because he was loaned out to Inter Milan.

Podolski was loaned out to the Italian side Inter Milan in a transfer that had hopes of reviving the career of Podolski who had and still continues to struggle to score goals on a consistent basis not only for Arsenal but for any club that he joins.

The German forward is 30 year old and his future is uncertain as the player is not a regular starter in Arsenal and Podolski is eager to turn into a performer who could make an impact with his team and have a starting role but in order to do this, he might have to make a move away from the Emirates Stadium. Bayern Munich reached the semifinals of the DFB-Pokal

Apr

Bayern Munich reached the semifinals of the DFB-Pokal after beating Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday night.

It was a very narrow victory and it was achieved only on penalties. After the match, Bayern superstar Thomas Müller said that there was no danger of fatigue for his team. He did admit that Bayern were lucky to go through this tie. The club, who remain on course to winning yet another league and cup double, have managed to lift this title in the last two seasons. A major challenge was seen in the form of Leverkusen, who have shown signs of brilliance this season.

For long periods of the night, it looked like Leverkusen would make use of the home advantage and get an unlikely victory. The path towards the stage of the competition has so far been relatively easy for Bayern, but they were given a major scare by Leverkusen. It has often been mentioned that luck plays a major role when it comes to victories over penalties, but Müller stated that penalties also requires a lot of practice. Bayern remain in hunt for yet another trophy in the form of the Champions League. The German club will be up against Porto in the quarter finals of the competition. (more…)
