Juventus Chief Admits Emre Can Deal Is Far From Done

Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta has revealed that the club have made their approach for Emre Can, and they are not in a hurry to know about his final decision. The Germany international has just three months left on his current Liverpool deal, and he has been widely tipped to leave the club on a free transfer during the summer.

Can has been regularly associated with a move to the Old Lady since July 2017, but the German stressed earlier in February that he has yet to decide on his next move. Speaking on Premium Sport, Marotta reiterated the player’s stance and suggested there are also other clubs vying to pursue his services on what is likely to be a huge bargain, he said: “We are not going to have a final reply any time soon. He is a top player and many clubs want to sign him. He is available as a free agent. We’ve already made our move but his reply is not going to arrive any time soon.”

Aside from Juventus, there has been imminent interest from German giants Borussia Dortmund whilst Manchester City and Manchester United are also deemed to be in the hunt for his signature. Nevertheless, Liverpool are still continuing to discuss the possibility of a fresh deal with the midfielder as they may have to spend another £50m at the least to pursue his replacement.

The Merseyside outfit already have a player arriving in the form of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig during the summer, but Jurgen Klopp is looking into further additions in order to guide the club to trophy success next term. The Reds have only the Champions League route to attain silverware this season, but they face a mammoth task in the latter stages with competition from Real Madrid, Barcelona among others.
