PODOLSKI AND INIESTA EMBROILED IN BRAWL
Former Barcelona ace Andres Iniesta and Lukas Podolski were embroiled in a mass brawl after their side conceded in the 14th minute of injury time, throwing away a two-goal lead.
The opposition goalkeeper, Yuji Rokutan scored from a corner 14 minutes into stoppage time to snatch a point from Podolski’s side on Saturday evening, after Vissel led 3-1 with just three minutes of normal time to go.
There were ugly scenes soon after as Vissel Kobe’s midfielder Wellington Luis de Sousa was sent off for pushing players and staff members of the opposition team.
De Sousa received a yellow card for a foul, seconds before arguing with the Shimizu bench and running into a crowd of coaches and players – shoving anyone in his path.
Former Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta tried to break up the incident but coaches and players including former Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski continued to struggle and tussle. The German international was visibly furious, seeing that his side had given up a two goal lead just few minutes to the end of the game.
Podolski was seen pushing coaches away from the pitch before being taken away from the situation by teammates. De Sousa then made his way out of the crowd to approach the referee who was waiting on to show him a red card.
Rokutan then tried to guide De Sousa off the pitch to make things faster which only resulted in the Brazilian forward throwing the last-minute goal scorer to the floor.
The visitors were already down to 10 men before the Brazilian striker’s red card as Naoyuki Fajita saw red in the 83rd minute.
The draw now leaves Shimizu S-Pulse in seventh on the table and Podolski’s side in 11th.
